In this step-by-step tutorial we will show you how to turn off VPN, how to disable a VPN connection and how to remove a VPN connection on Windows 10.

How to Turn Off VPN on Windows 10

If you are using a third-party app from a VPN provider, simply open the VPN app and click on Disconnect (or a similar button or on/off switch).

If you have created the VPN connection manually or if you don’t manage to turn off the VPN from the VPN app, follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the Wi-Fi or LAN icon from the Taskbar.
  2. Select the active VPN connection by clicking on it.
  3. Click on Disconnect button and wait till the VPN is disconnected.

How to Disable a VPN Connection on Windows 10

  1. Click on the Wi-Fi or LAN icon from the Taskbar, then click on Open Network & Internet Settings.

  2. Click on Change Adapter Options.

  3. Right-click on the VPN connection you want to disable and click on Disable.

How to Remove a VPN Connection on Windows 10

If you are using a third-party app from a VPN provider, you should uninstall the app.

If you have created the VPN connection manually or if the connection is still there after uninstalling your VPN provider's app, follow the steps below.

  1. Click on Windows icon, then on Settings icon.

  2. Go to Network & Internet > VPN.

  3. Click on the VPN connection you want to remove, click on Remove and confirm by clicking one more time on Remove.
